Green holidays, Safari holidays on the move!
Welcome back, if you haven't already, you might want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
If you want to try something different this year, then spoil yourself! Go on holiday, all the cool kids are doing it! However why not do something slightly more exciting than relaxing on the beach and try going to the Masai Mara! Ok so you may or may not know what or where the Masai Mara is, but you arte more than likely going to end up confronting ones of these:

Excited now?
Of course you are, it’s only a big cuddly cat and everyone wants to see a lion! Seriously though and joking aside, probably one of the most surreal and amazing experiences of my life was going on Safari in Kenya, at a reserve called the Masai Mara. I ventured out on a safari with my girl friend (at the time, now married!) called the Big Five safar
Safari holidays were remarkably rewarding, and being able to see so many majestic creatures in their own natural environment was amazing. The accommodation was brilliant too, staying in the wilderness was a thrilling experience. So let’s talk about what exactly the Big Five was, and what the safari experience is all about!
The Big Five Safari is basically an experience where you go on holiday to find five of the largest and most dangerous of the animals in Africa! It sounds mad doesn’t it, but in actuality it is extremely fun!
Here are the Big Five:
- Lion
- “Black” Rhino
- Elephant
- Buffalo
- Leopard
These are considered the most dangerous animals in Kenya and have received the name Big Five for one main reason. When hunters travelled across the Masai Mara they choose the animals that were the hardest to hunt and kill, and aptly named them the Big Five!
Holidays are fun, but not as fun as Safari holidays!
Why not do your bit for the endangered species of Africa by going on a Safari holiday!
All of the animals that are endangered are going these ways for different reasons. However what is the main key between lots of these creatures becoming extinct. To be honest we are the problem!
An endangered species is a term used to describe a species whose numbers have become so low it is at risk of becoming extinct. We cannot stop evolutionary change, so of course some animals will change and become extinct. However we are to blame for a lot of things. First of all when a safari was first started it was designed as a hunting party for rich people to hunt animals that were considered a thrill to catch. The animals were hunted down and killed, because of this there are few of them left in the world.
We do not hunt all that many animals now as we did say a hundred years ago (mainly because they are all gone). All of the endangered species like the Tiger, Lion and Rhino are all protected. Now instead of hunting them and killing them we are trying to save them. Safari is the best way to get people on side, or to teach them about some of the problems in the world. Diving holidays have become very popular in the eyes of many governments to try and the marine life before it gets to even worse stages.
Pollution is proving to be another major problem; we may not be shooting these animals anymore. We are however slowly damaging there health and changing their surrounding climates. Some people don’t even know that a safari is more than just a holiday, its a massive experience. Kenya safari holidays are a great way to have fun and see the world.
What is going to happen to the animals and people in Africa when the global climate continues to shift
Africa is the place of complete open space, the place where animals and plants run wild and free, but is it always going to be like this…
The world is changing, and more importantly the environment is changing. Africa is one of the hottest location on the planet, and where it is positioned, on the equator line, it can only get so much hotter. No matter what it is we think, problems in the world today will be worse in the future, at the current rate the climate is changing, how hot will Africa be.
The temperature all over the world is rising every year, places like Africa won’t be able to support a decent amount of life in around one hundred years. Millions of people pronounce that they will help do their thing to save the world, the problem is that most of us don’t really do anything about it. Now without seeming like a pessimist, people won’t take serious action on global climate change until the very last minute.
So what is the best immediate option? You should try to get your next holiday booked for Africa. The Safari holidays give you amazing insight into what Africa is all about, and the chance to see these animals in the wild will allow you to experience something that millions of others never will. We can all go down to the zoo and see a lion, but it doesn’t have the same impact as if you saw one in their natural environment.
These animals are also endangered by poachers; people think that because they are in reserves or national parks that they are now safe and the poaching has stopped. Some animals in the wild are still being poached, killed and hunted as game, even in these reserve parks.
So consider Kenya holidays in the Masai Mara reserve, or Zambia holidays and visit this glowing location while you can.
