Cruise Liners and the Survival of the World!
Our world is being plagued by “Global warming” and we keep on threatening to do something about it. However are we actually seeing any changes that are significant to save our planet from ultimately, destruction? Is Global warming real, well yes, it is blatantly obvious, and the science backs it all up. These things need to be monitored and although we are watching what is happening we are doing nothing to stop it.
Some of our leisurely activities are by far more damaging than others, yet we still insist on taking part in them. Cruise Liners are one of the least environmentally forms of transport in the world, if not the most deadly to our world. However in order to put this into perspective we need to look at some facts, otherwise this is all pointless “Jibba Jabba”.
Your average flight to the Caribbean will generate somewhere in the region of 1.8 tonnes of CO2, and your average Cruise to the Caribbean will generate around 8.9 tonnes of CO2 from somewhere in Europe. Now these are just numbers and don’t mean all that much to you, and in the first instant meant nothing to me either. However when you consider am entire acre of trees will only store 2.4 tonnes of CO2 per year, it might start to make you think.
How about this figure as well; each person on average a year will only create and expel 2.3 tonnes of CO2. Once you put all of these figures into practice you can really see how deadly the Cruise Ship is. It would take over 3 acres of trees to contain the CO2 put out by one cruise ship that traveled to the Caribbean from Europe, and that would only be if it traveled once a year!
Could banning Cruise Liners be a good start to saving our planet? Maybe that’s something that you could answer!
