Going back a couple of decades, not many people worried about where their grub tableware or other products were sourced from. It was a case of what do I want and where do I get it. Nowadays however, we cannot afford to live in the same manner, especially if we want to secure a future for the next generation and beyond. Taking some time to think about where you get and how you consume your food can have a surprisingly big impact.

Local Producers. We take it for granted these days that we can pop down the local shop and buy some fruits from exotic shores and wines from the other side of the world for example. However, a huge amount of these products are flown thousands of miles from other countries and this causes problems. Not only does the transport release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, due to burning fuel and having to use a food and wine cooler to keep the produce chilled all the way, but also local food suppliers struggle to compete with low foreign costs. If you want to see the important businesses in your local area survive for years to come then make sure you use them whenever you can.

Fight Packaging. You only have to take a walk down one of the isles to see how much food packaging is wasted making products look pretty. A single cake might be singly wrapped, inside a little box with a plastic place-holder, which is cloaked in cellophane and transported within a cardboard box, with the other cake boxes. It is often the case that such packaging is completely redundant, so do your bit and try to buy loose or sensibly wrapped goods.

Green Accessories. Ensuring your meal times do not cost the planet means thinking about more than just your food. Everything from the cutlery you use to the little wine gifts bought for yourself or other can have just as much influence and the consumables themselves. Ask yourself where this product has come from, is it something that could be made from a more sustainable material, and is this a disposable product when I could be buying a reusable one? Disposable chopsticks for example cause thousands of trees to be cut down every day, when a good reusable pair can last a lifetime.

If you wish to remove untoward products from your life, you should consider making the change to wear only organic cotton clothing. Cotton is well known for its power to wrinkle if you do so much as look at it wrong. Cotton that does this has not been treated with a chemical known as Formaldehyde. Formaldehyde bonds with the natural compounds of cotton, which prevents it from wrinkling. Most cottons are now treated with this chemic in order to let down the amount of work it takes to own cotton clothing.

In addition to Formaldehyde, as if wear a cancer-causing agent was not forged enough, the process that non organic fertilizer cotton goes through does a number on the environment. Non organic cotton is grown with a long list of fertilizers and pesticides exploited to protect and foster growth of the plants. However, these fertilizers and pesticides wash out of the fields and now into the ecosystems. The result is the expansion of dead zones, such as the one situated in the Disconnect of Mexico. By refusing to purchase anything but organic cotton clothing, you send a content to the bank accounts of producers of non organic cottons.

The problem with organic cotton clothing is that not enough people have demanded it. While the press is picking up, only when people demand high quality, organic cotton clothing, will the mass producers of chemically enhanced clothes lower. Only when these non organic producers change their methods of development and treating cotton, will the affect of the deterioration caused to the surround be lessened.

The fair trade is nothing but to ensure legally and ethically that the workers who are engaged in the production of these items are treated fairly and their remunerations are in commensurate with their efforts

Adhering to the fair trade regulations is a current trend particularly for those who take the organics as their way of life and also for them who are dreaming of a pollution free earth. But the negative flip of the coin is the cost of production of eco friendly clothing. The eco friendly and fair trade goods are indeed expensive due to their cost of production. The fabrics which are exposed to fertilizers and pesticides are far cheaper than the organic one.

In the making of organic clothing,the use of the harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are avoided,and these clothing is less likely to irritate the skin. The irritation is mainly due to the adding of an addictive chemical to make the fabric a wrinkle free look. The chemical is Formaldehyde,a common bonder used in the fabric to give the wrinkle free look which has been proved to be causing allergic reactions,causes deformity to infants and even leading to cancer.

Though the level of Formaldehyde is acceptable as it appears for majority of the people,it does have drastic effect for those who are prone to allergic attack. This chemical has already been banned in some of the countries.

The chemical formaldehyde is a necessary evil for the upkeep of the cloths. Without this so far it has been proved that the maintenance of the cloths are indeed difficult. We are getting improvement on this side too,as we are getting the organic substances which are tailor made for the upkeep of the organic clothing.

Thankfully we have now organic products which give the same effect as that of a product based on chemicals. These products are gentle and bio degradable and hence no damage to the environment.

Many people get reminded of the days when they were younger and riding a bike which I suppose is where they get the idea that bikes are for kids. Is all of this actually true or are there just people out there that like to cause a bit of an argument?

I can see their point in certain ways, some of the cycling clothing does look a bit out there and those cycling shoes look simply ridiculous on some of the people that wear them.

However on the whole I think they are very wrong indeed. Why is someone riding to work, getting exercise and enjoying the morning air acting like they are still a small child? I think that it is safe to say that the people that think like this are either overweight, unable to ride a bike or just plain arrogant. They are the people that tend to drive to work in the morning whilst having a nice puff on a cigarette and tucking into a nice fast food morning meal. How nice does that sound!

Other Reasons People Associate Bikes With Children

One of the other reasons this argument comes up is because many people have not been on a bike since they were in their younger years. Of course learning how to ride a bike is one of the first things parents will teach their children other than the obvious walking and talking. Most adults do not remember the times in the nappies and one of the first memories to pop into the mind is those training wills.

Perhaps you had a fall when you were younger and have never had the guts to get on a bike again so automatically hate them, hey it happens.

The truth is that bikes are not for kids at all and they help the environment and you will start to see a lot more people on them as they are working towards saving the earth.
