Solar Home Energy, the need to change

> The appliances we can’t live without – and even the ones we can – are powered by electricity. The damage caused by the source of this electricity is rapidly becoming one of the greatest challenges of our time. The need for solar home energy and the growing number of resources in the renewable energy market is now allowing a better alternative for people seeking more cost effective systems and also something that is going to save our environment.
We cannot as a society continue to pursue our past and current practices of pollution and existing means of power generation. Their calls for change fell on deaf ears. The global awareness of the seriousness of our environment and situation has caused many families to now be aware of things outside of our family environment. Not until the environment was reaching a crisis and showing signs of collapse, did the voices of the few become the passion of the many.
Now that awareness was at its high point, everyone began to contemplate what they could do to help alleviate the crisis. The cost of this was, until recently, out of reach for the average family’s income. This was the biggest reason (or excuse) for not making the necessary changes. There is much more that the concious environmentalist can now do to save our environment as opposed to the limited options of the past. After all we can only afford so much.
Some of us thought how wonderful it might be to install solar power systems on our homes but the initial outlay was cost prohibitive. The advances in solar technology in the past few years have acted greatly to reduce what it costs and our ability to harness the benefits of solar home energy.
The cost of purchasing a solar panel has come down significantly. The price tag, though, is still too high for some. A possible alternative is to obtain various components from suppliers and a set of plans, and assemble them oneself. The good news is the simplicity and options available means many of these parts need only be bought once.
A somewhat handy individual armed with an instructional video, easy to read set of plans, and some mechanical know how can put together and install a solar array in about a weekend.
One panel is not likely enough to supply all the energy needs of one house, but as long as you have the roof space, you can always install additional panels to meet your energy needs. While there is an upfront cost for implementing a solar system, the associated benefits far outweigh this in the longer term in benefits of cost savings and the better environment.
